There were no confirmed tornadoes or damages in Covington County as a result of the weekend’s severe weather.
County Emergency Management Agency Director Susan Harris said two funnel clouds were spotted near the Opp area.
“But thankfully, nothing touched down,” she said.
Local residents spotted the clouds. Neil Patel posted a picture to the web of the cloud near the Opp Holiday Inn, while others captured one near Ino Baptist Church.
However, other parts of the nation were not as lucky as Covington County.
Alabama’s Madison and Limestone counties were hit by tornadoes, while tornadoes were documented in 11 other states, including Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.
