More than 20 arrests were made in a warrant round-up Thursday, District Attorney Walt Merrell confirmed.

The round up was organized by DA investigator Max Smith, and was primarily for bad checks. However, with assistance from the Andalusia, Opp and Florala Police departments, as well as the Drug Task Force and ABC officers, the round up also included arrests for grand jury indictments and municipal warrants.

The DA said he had planned to release more detailed information Thursday night, but the round up took longer than expected. A full statement, including the names of those arrested, is expected Friday morning. The Star-News will update its web site when the names become available, and will include the information in the Saturday edition.
