Andalusia Ecycling day is today

The 2nd annual Andalusia electronics recycling day is set for today, Fri., March 9, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Andalusia Fire Department.

This one-day recycling event for the collection of electronic equipment to promote recycling, litter awareness, and reduce amounts of electronics disposed to landfills is sponsored by the City of Andalusia, the Alabama Clean Water Partnership, Key Club of Andalusia High School and Ecovery.

Eligible items include computers/laptops, televisions, copiers, printers, fax machines, scanners, stereo equipment, keyboards/mice/peripherals, VCRs/DVDs, telephone systems, cell phones, cameras, wireless devices, microwaves, communication cables, medical electronics, servers, typewriters, CD and tape players, electronic games, radios, camcorders, answering machines, and many more. No white goods (refrigerators, freezers, stoves, washers and dryers) allowed.

Ecovery charges nominal recycling fees for televisions ($10) amd computer monitors ($5) due to the high content of hazardous waste. There is no charge on other items.
