AHS splits at SE Invitational; SHS holds on to win

Andalusia split in baseball action at the Southeast Invitational Tournament tonight.
The Bulldogs fell to Dothan 4-0, but won the night cap over Wicksburg 2-0.
Andalusia’s Zach Ward, Grayson Campbell, Will Harrison and Quinton Maddox had one hit each in the loss to DHS.
Ross Graham threw a complete game and allowed four hits to help lead the Bulldogs (10-3) over Wicksburg in the second game.
Campbell, Daniel Henderson, Hunter Earnest and Harrison had one hit each.
Andalusia will face Geneva tomorrow at 4:30 in Wicksburg to continue in pool play, which ends Thursday.
In other action tonight, Straughn barely scraped away a win over Kinston, to claim a 14-12 victory.
Doug Mosely led the Tigers and went 2-for-5 with four RBIs. Taylor Messick also went 2-for-5 and had three RBIs.
Straughn scored one run in the third inning, five runs in the fourth, one run in the fifth and seven runs in the sixth.
Straughn led 14-8 in the top of the seventh inning, but Kinston scored three runs on a throwing error to cut the game to 14-11. KHS added another run to keep the Tigers honest, and SHS struck out the side for the win.
For the night, Straughn had nine errors, compared to Kinston’s six.
In the Brantley/Luverne tournament over the weekend, the Tigers finished runner up to Brantley on Saturday, falling 9-1 in the championship game.
Straughn beat rival Andalusia 6-4 in its first game of the day.
Lane Serman was 4-for-4 with three RBIs for SHS in his team’s win over AHS.
On the first day of the tournament, Brantley beat Straughn 9-1 after SHS claimed an 11-3 win over Red Level.
Straughn will host Brantley tomorrow (Tues., March 13) in a doubleheader, starting at 4 p.m.
