As of Wednesday, Andalusia’s golf team sat at 3-1 on the season and coach Marshall Locke said the 13-player squad must get better for sectionals, which take place in April.

“I’m trying to get them to see that we’re not trying to play against the opponent – we’re playing against the course,” Locke said. “You’ve got to try to be the best you can be on a consistent basis.”

And inconsistency is plaguing the team right now, Locke said.

“It’s more or less the mental aspect of the game,” he said. “At the end of the round, they look like they’re getting tired and losing concentration, giving up easy shots.”

The Bulldogs’ next round is Monday at Monroeville Country Club. Then, they’ll have a week off and will play on March 26 at Brewton Country Club. Following the Brewton match, AHS will travel to Troy and will follow with spring break.

Locke said sectionals being after spring break will be a good thing in the long run for the team.

“That’s a part of the season we’re shooting for,” he said.
