Denise Bozarth is placed in a police car after Walton County Sheriff’s officials pick her up on murder charges.

A Paxton, Fla., woman was arrested Thursday for the 2007 murder of her husband in Key Largo, Fla.

Denise Marie Bozarth, 39, was taken into custody without incident, at a home on Cannon Drive, according to Inv. Wendy Ammons of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.

The WCSO assisted the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Monroe County, Fla., Sheriff’s Office in apprehending Bozarth.

According to The Citizen, a Key Largo newspaper, Bozarth was the key suspect in the murder of her husband, Ed, who was “slain and left to rot underneath the cabin of his Key Largo live-aboard.”

Published reports stated the slain Bozarth, 62, was a pilot whose family members said was a former Drug Enforcement Administration agent. His body was discovered on the night of July 1, 2007 after the smell of decay overpowered patrons at a Key Largo bar. When sheriff’s deputies found Bozarth in the engine room of his live-aboard, his face was smashed and his body stuffed inside a nylon bag. The alleged motive for the murder was a “hefty trust fund, which (Mrs. Bozarth) stood to gain,” the newspaper stated.

Mrs. Bozarth was transported and booked into the Walton County Jail, to wait transfer to Monroe County, Ammons said.
