Kayla McClain of Andalusia is one of 100 nationwide maurices model finalists.
McClain, 19, is a student at LBW Community College who said she wanted to become a maurices model “so that I can be an inspiration to girls all over the country.”
McClain was selected as a finalist based on the number of local web votes. Now, judges will pick 20 contestants and bring them to Minneapolis, Minn., for a casting call, where they’ll select the 12 winners.
In addition to serving as a maurices’ spokesperson, each winner will receive a photo shoot in one of three iconic destinations in the U.S., $1,500 maurices gift card and $7,500 for a charitable makeover to be awarded directly to a community or charitable organization in her hometown.
“Maurices is the place to shop in my town, because we do not have many places to shop,” McClain wrote in her entry. “I think it would mean a lot to my town if I could model for maurices.
“I would like to donate to my hometown animal shelter because I love animals,” she said. “I have three dogs and four horses. I really would like to help them find these amazing creatures homes. I also think it would help to fight against animal cruelty.
“Most people these days do not see the importance in taking care of animals,” she said. “Everyone dog or cat deserves to be loved by someone. Just like humans do. The money would really help a animal in need if I could be a maurices model.”
