Andalusia’s Jacard Townsend and Alexis Horton were selected to the first team of the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Class 4A boys and girls All-State basketball team.

Townsend, a 6-foot-3 senior forward, averaged 18.58 points per game and averaged 15.10 rebounds per game for the Bulldogs.

Horton, a 5-foot-4 senior guard, averaged 20.5 points per game to lead the Lady Bulldogs.

Additionally, Andalusia’s Shi’Amber Townsend was selected to the second team.

Straughn’s Brittany Driver was selected as an honorable mention.

The Class 1A boys coach of the year is Opp native and Georgiana coach Kirk Norris.

Norris helped lead the Panthers to a Final Four appearance this season.
