Bobcats sweep Kinston 8-1, 10-0

Opp beat Kinston 8-1, 10-0 in regular season doubleheader action on Monday night at Merchant’s Field.

With these victories, the 10th-ranked Bobcats improve to 12-4 overall. Opp is now 3-1 in Class 3A, Area 2, and will host Straughn in another regular season doubleheader on Friday night.

The Bobcats’ next area game is on Monday at home against Luverne.

“If we sweep Luverne, then we’ll be No. 1,” OHS coach Michael Cassady said. “We’ve got to beat them.”

 

Opp 8, Kinston 1

Dakota King struck out nine batters and allowed one hit and one walk in 5 innings to take the win. T.J. Bess came in and pitched 2 innings and struck out two, while walking one to get the save.

Trey Short went 3-for-4 with one single, one double a home run to lead the Bobcats. Dane Buckelew went 2-for-4 with two doubles; Russell Mosley went 2-for-4; Brady Jowers went 2-for-4; and Kyle Marshall went 2-for-3.

 

Opp 10, Kinston 0 (in six innings)

Jowers had four strikeouts and allowed two hits and no walks in 5.0 innings to get the win. Bess pitched 1 inning and allowed one hit and one walk to get the save.

Buckelew went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and one single; T.J. Register went 2-for-4; Jowers went 2-for-3; and Brady Vidich went 2-for-4 to lead Opp.
