Opp’s Russell Mosley had six strikeouts and allowed one hit and four walks in 3.1 innings to help lead the Bobcats to a 12-2 area victory over Luverne on Monday night.
Behind Mosley, the Bobcats had 13 hits against the Tigers.
“We hit the ball really well,” OHS coach Michael Cassady said. “We did a good job of running bases.”
The Bobcats found themselves in a sticky situation in the fourth with bases loaded.
Cassady said T.J. Bess — who pitched 1.2 innings and allowed no hits — threw two pitches that got two outs for his team.
“That was really big for us,” he said.
Brady Vidich went 3-for-3 with a double and two singles to lead OHS (14-5, 4-1 in Class 3A, Area 2). Thomas Weed went 2-for-2 with a home run; T.J. Register and Ethan Davis went 2-for-3 each; Hayden Nobles and Dane Buckelew went 1-for-3 each; and Mosley and Bess went 1-for-1 each.
Opp will visit LHS today to continue its area series against the Tigers.
If the Bobcats win the first game, then they will claim the No. 1 seed in the area.
