WILLIAM EDWIN ‘BILL’ ANSLEY

William Edwin “Bill” Ansley, 71, of Andalusia, died Mon., April 9, 2012 in Flowers Hospital in Dothan.

He graduated from Evergreen High School in 1959. He started working with the L&N Railroad and worked 43 years with them and was the railroad agent in Andalusia for 17 years. He was a loving husband, father and “Paw Paw.”

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., today, Wed., April 11, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Aaron officiating and burial following in Sepulga Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be at Foreman Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Ansley of Andalusia; his daughter, Jill O’Brien of Andalusia; son, Alan Ansley of Lucedale, Miss.; three grandchildren, Tyler O’Brien of Montgomery, Clayton O’Brien of Tuscaloosa and Katie O’Brien of Andalusia; two brothers and sister-in-law, James and Willette Ansley of Evergreen and Zell Ansley of Theodore.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Zell and Jimmie Allen Ansley.

FOYE GILLUM

Foye Gillum, 88, of Red Level, passed away Tues., April 10, 2012, in the Opp hospital.

Funeral services will be held beginning at 2 p.m. on Thurs., April 12, at Calvary Holiness Church on Opine Road with the Rev. Mark Sims and the Rev. Phillip Hurst officiating. Music will be provided by Kay Sims. Pallbearers will include Wayne Caylor Jr., Dallas Henderson, Samuel Rogers, John Green, Tyler Potter and Hunter Keith. Honorary pallbearers are Reid Kennedy, Josh Sutton and Austin Potter. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Baptist Church cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be tonight at Keahey Funeral Home from 6 to 8.

Survivors include her sons, Jimmy Ray Gillum of Andalusia and James Harrison Gillum (Sue) of Jasper; daughters, Joyce Patricia Gillum Morgan and Marie Maxine Odom (Doward), all of Andalusia; daughters/granddaughters, Donna Jowers Archie of Kinston and Teresa Jowers Williams (Randy) of Enterprise; 10 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 34 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, I.W. Gillum; her daughter, Mildred Jowers; and her grandson, Russell Craig Jowers.

WILLIS J. TERRY

Willis J. “Jerry” Terry, 61, of Andalusia, passed away on March 17, 2012, in Pensacola, Fla., at Covenant Hospice and Palliative Care Center, West Florida Hospital.

He retired to Andalusia after having served 21 years in the Army, including three tours in Vietnam.

There will be a private memorial service and scattering of the remains on his farm.

He is survived by a brother, Frank (Martha) Terry of Andalusia; nephew, W. Grant (Holly) Terry of Mexico Beach, Fla., and a number of aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by parents, Willis Terry and Winifred Terry.

Memorials may be made to Covenant Hospice of Pensacola, Fla.

 

THE REV. NEAL WYATT

The Rev. Neal Wyatt, 81, of Andalusia, passed away Sat., April 7, 2012, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., today, Tues., April 10, at the First Baptist Church of Andalusia with Dr. Fred Karthaus, the Rev. Larry Cummings and the Rev. Pat Nobles officiating. Burial followed in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with full military honors with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers were representatives from the Armed Forces. Honorary pallbearers included all members of the Baraca Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Andalusia and all ministers of the Covington Baptist Association.

The Rev. Wyatt is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kittye Wyatt of Andalusia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jonathan Mark and Michelle Wyatt of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Timothy Deneal and Jana Wyatt of Opp; and six grandchildren, Heather Wyatt of Nashville, Tenn., Michael Wyatt of Palm Harbor, Fla., Sydney and Hannah Wyatt of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Anna and Ashlyn Wyatt of Opp.

He served as the Director of Missions for the Covington Baptist Association from 1984 to 2000. During this time, one of his accomplishments was leading the association to begin the Christian Service Centers in Andalusia, Opp and Florala. He also had served the Crenshaw, Carey, Clay and Randolph offices of the Alabama Baptist Association. He was a graduate of BBI (Baptist College of Florida) with degrees in theology and religious education. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Andalusia and retired from the United States Navy.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Covington Baptist Association Scholarship Fund, the First Baptist Church or the charity of one’s choice.

MARCUS D. NOLEN

Marcus D. Nolen, 76, of Red Level, passed away Sat., April 7, 2012, in the Andalusia Manor.

Funeral services were held on Tues., April 10, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Mott Church of Christ cemetery in Red Level with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his sons, Tony Nolen and Ricky S. (Debbie) Nolen, all of Red Level; daughter, Charlotte N. (Wayne E.) Morris of Dothan; sister, Sara Dismuke of South Carolina; sisters-in-law, Marlette Nolen and Mary Nolen, both of Red Level; grandchildren, TaNisha Nolen Hughes, Ryan E. Morris, Brad M. Nolen, Chase Nolen, Nicolas S. Nolen, Matthew S. Nolen and Sara I. Nolen; and great-grandchildren, Ethan Nolen, Addi Hughes, Brady Nolen and Nolen Hughes.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Nolen.

JOE TAYLOR BRACEWELL

Joe Taylor Bracewell, 76, of Andalusia, died Sat., April 7, 2012, at his residence.

Funeral services were held Mon., April 7, at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frankie McVay officiating, with interment in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Special music was provided by Nikki Bracewell, accompanied by Shirley Lambert.

Survivors include his wife, Jan Bracewell of Andalusia; his sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Judy Bracewell, Tim and Debbie Bracewell, Victor and Margo Bracewell and Kenny and Nikki Bracwell, all of Andalusia; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers and sister-in-law, Mac and Shelia Bracewell and Bernie Bracewell; and sister, Jackie Henderson of Andalusia.

Pallbearers were Lamar Whittle, Terry Wilson, Chad Bracewell, Justin Bracewell, Joseph Henderson and Michael Conforti.

URSEY DELL NICHOLS

Ursey Dell Nichols, 92, of the Rawls Community, died Fri., April 6, 2012, in a local nursing facility.

Funeral services were held on Mon., April 9, at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Little officiating. Interment followed at Rawls Cemetery. Special music was provided by her great-granddaughter, EllaKate Nichols, and Mark Rudd.

She is survived by a son, Brunson (Zola) Nichols of Andalusia; daughters, Glenda Winters of Andalusia, Phyllis (Tommy) Culpepper of Gantt, Judy Henby and Jo Ann (Paul) Sanders of Andalusia; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy (Jake) Henderson of Andalusia; brother, Harold (Jeanette) Sorrells of Opp; and sister-in-law, June Smith of Andalusia.
