Jones named outstanding alum

Richard H. “Rick” Jones of Andalusia was named the 2011 outstanding alumnus for the Auburn University School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences at a dinner on the Auburn University campus held on April 3.

Jones, a long-time employee of Charles Dixon and Company, is a 1977 graduate of Auburn with a degree in Forest Management.  He is a 1972  graduate of Andalusia High School and an Alabama registered forester. He has served as president of the Alabama Forestry Association and as a member of the board of directors of the Forest Landowners Association. He is a life member of the Auburn Alumni Association and a member of the Auburn School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences Dean’s Advisory Council.

Jones is married to Kathy Jones Jones of Andalusia and they have three sons, Richard, an Auburn graduate and senior engineer with Alabama Power Company in Mobile; Patrick, an Auburn graduate and third-year student at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham; and Gillis, a junior at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark.
