MELINDA WARD

Melinda Sue Ward of Rose Hill left us on Tues., April 11, 2012, to be with her Heavenly Father at the young age of 49 after a sudden illness at University of Alabama hospital in Birmingham.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Sat., April 14, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Clark Sr. and the Rev. Frankie McVay officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Lake Gardens with Keahey Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. Saturday until time of services.

She was born in Covington County on Jan. 6, 1963. She was a loving wife, doting mother, amazing daughter, the sweetest sister, and the best Nana ever. If you ever met her, you know, she never met a stranger and lived her life doing for others. Her heart was bigger than life itself. She loved going to the beach and being with her family. Oh how her silliness, big mouth, and laughter will be missed by all that knew her!

She is survived by her husband, James Thomas Ward of Rose Hill; sons and daughters-in-law, Jessie Allen Ward, James Lee and Tara Ward, all of Gantt and Thomas Colton Ward of Rose Hill; father, John Houston Bozeman of Quitman, Ga.; mother, Hazel Ruth Hall Bozeman of Andalusia; brother, Johnny Allen Bozeman of Tallahassee, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Donald Allen McJunkins of Slocomb; three grandchildren, Tyler Austin Ward, Tara Renee Ward and Hunter Lee Ward; and two very special young ladies, Vicki Barnes and Shelly Ward. She is also survived by her three nephews, Brandon Bozeman, Grey McJunkins and Jason Albritton; niece, Hope Bozeman; her mother-in-law, Silvia Ward; several brothers- and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends that were all very special to her.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, John Ward; two uncles, Billy Ray Hall and Larry Ray Hall; and her grandparents.

BRENDA OLETA

GORSUCH

Brenda Oleta Gorsuch, 71, passed away Tues., April 10, 2012, at her residence.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., today, Fri., April 13, at Red Oak Baptist Church. Visitation will start at 9 a.m. at the church.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri Uhde of Cape Coral, Fla., Sonya (Abdul) Qudus of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Shannon (Mike) Hutcherson of Oakfield, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Larry Bulger, Thomas J. Bulger and Gordon (Elaine) Bulger, all of Florala; and sister and brother-in-law, Loretta (Ray) Turner of Lowndesboro.

SHELIA THOMPSON

Shelia Thompson, 48, of Red Level, passed away Tues., April 10, 2012, at her residence.

Services were held Thurs., April 12, River Falls Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold W. Morris officiating and burial following in the River Falls Cemetery. Keahey Funeral Home will be directing the services.

Survivors include her mother, Barbara Ann Griggs of Andalusia; daughter, Danielle Robinson of Brewton; brothers, Roy Griggs of Red Level and Arthur Joe Griggs of Florida; maternal grandmother, Maude Thompson; aunt, Olivia Whillhite, both of Red Level; and uncle, Ray Thompson of Elba.

FOYE GILLUM

Foye Gillum, 88, of Red Level, passed away Tues., April 10, 2012, in the Opp hospital.

Funeral services were held Thurs., April 12, at Calvary Holiness Church on Opine Road with the Rev. Mark Sims and the Rev. Phillip Hurst officiating. Music was provided by Kay Sims. Burial followed in Cedar Grove Baptist Church cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers were Wayne Caylor Jr., Dallas Henderson, Samuel Rogers, John Green, Tyler Potter and Hunter Keith. Honorary pallbearers ere Reid Kennedy, Josh Sutton and Austin Potter.

Survivors include her sons, Jimmy Ray Gillum of Andalusia and James Harrison Gillum (Sue) of Jasper; daughters, Joyce Patricia Gillum Morgan and Marie Maxine Odom (Doward), all of Andalusia; daughters/granddaughters, Donna Jowers Archie of Kinston and Teresa Jowers Williams (Randy) of Enterprise; 10 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 34 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, I.W. Gillum; her daughter, Mildred Jowers; and her grandson, Russell Craig Jowers.

IVA M. WHITE

Iva M. White, 90, of Andalusia, died Tues., April 10, 2012, in Shepherd’s Cove Hospice Facility in Albertville.

Memorial services were held Thurs., April 12, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Kelley officiating and Keahey Funeral Homes directing.

Survivors include her son, Miles W. White Jr. of Guntersville; daughter, Jelane White of Birmingham; and brother, Marlin Dickens of Andalusia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Miles W. White; brothers, Willard and Ernest; and sisters, Tessie and Mary.
