Opp beat Straughn 3-2 in the night cap, but fell to Flomaton 6-2 in its first game to claim the No. 2 seed of Pool B going into Saturday’s single elimination round of Pleasant Home’s annual softball tournament.

In the first game of the day, Andalusia beat the Lady Tigers 3-2, but also fell to Flomaton 10-1.

The Lady Bulldogs will be the No. 3 seed, and SHS is the No. 4 seed.

“They hit the ball real well,” AHS coach Teresa Herring said about Flomaton.

Andalusia’s Sam Greene had a double, which hit off the fence against FHS.

In Opp’s loss to the Lady Canes, Lady Bobcats pitcher Anna Harrelson had a good game on the mound, OHS coach Jimmy Reeves said.

“We made a bunch of errors,” Reeves said.

Opp’s Octavia Thompson and Laiken Free had an inside-the-park home run each to help lead the Lady Bobcats to the win over Straughn.

Thompson went 3-for-3 to lead OHS, who found itself in trouble late in the game when Straughn had runners on second and third in the bottom half of the last inning.

Courtney Chatham struck one girl out and then got a ground out to win it.

“We made some good plays defensively against Opp,” SHS coach Trent Taylor said. “Even in that situation (in the last inning), we hit the ball on the ground, but unfortunately, it went right to somebody.”

Andalusia will face the No. 3 seed from Pool A at 8 a.m. tomorrow; Opp has the No. 3 seed from Pool A at 9:30 a.m.; and Straughn has the No. 1 seed from Pool A at 11 a.m.

Pool A games continue today with Pleasant Home vs. Florala at 3 p.m.; Florala vs. Brantley at 4:30 p.m.; Brantley vs. Kinston at 6 p.m.; and Kinston vs. Pleasant Home at 7:30 p.m.
