Andalusia downs RLS

Andalusia swept Red Level in doubleheader action Monday night as the Bulldogs beat the Tigers 12-3 and 13-2.
In game one, the Bulldogs tallied seven of their 11 hits against the Tigers with two outs.
AHS scored three runs each in the first and second, added one run in the third and fourth, scored three in the fifth and one in the sixth in the first-game win.
The Bulldogs will visit St. James on Friday for the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s first round of the Class 4A state playoffs. Each round is a best 2-out-of-3 series. There will be a doubleheader on Friday, and if necessary, a game on Saturday in case of a split.
Courtesy runner Hunter Earnest for Zach Ward and Quinton Maddox scored on a two-run single by Daniel Henderon, and then Jud Rogers scored on a fielder’s to give Andalusia a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
In the second, Ward sac-bunted Will Harrison home, who reached on a hit-by-pitch; and Michael McCalman later scored on a double from Maddox.
The game went up to 6-0 when Rogers scored on another fielder’s choice.
In the top of the third inning, the Bulldogs led 7-0 after Ward’s sac-fly, which scored Tyler Raines, who reached on an error.
Red Level cut the game to five runs with two of its own in the bottom half of the third inning.
The Tigers got two men on on an error and a walk, respectively, to lead the inning.
Then, Jordan Walker hit a two-run double to score Troy Nolen and Raheem Bullock.
Andalusia increased its lead to 8-2 in the fourth inning on an RBI single from Raines to score Henderson, who reached on a triple for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs scored their three runs in the fifth on an RBI triple from Grayson Campbell, an RBI single from Maddox and an error.
Red Level scored its third run on an RBI double from Cody Marler that scored Walker.
McCalman’s RBI double in the sixth inning gave Andalusia its 12th run of the game.
Ward pitched two innings, allowed no runs on three hits and struck out one batter; Henderson pitched two innings, allowed two runs on one hit, one walk and struck out one batter; Jay Brewer pitched one inning, allowed one run on one hit, two walks and struck out one batter; and Maddox pitched the last two innings, allowing no runs on two hits, walking two and striking out one batter.
Henderson went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead AHS; Maddox and Ward had two RBIs each.
Walker went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead RLS.
Red Level will return to action today at McKenzie to finish its season.
In softball action, Andalusia will also at Red Level, and the Lady Bulldogs came out on top, 17-1.
