A Florala man narrowly escaped life-threatening injuries Sunday after a 4-wheeler accident.
Reports indicate that Wiley Lowery was injured in the accident which occurred at 5:45 p.m. at a home on Ala. Hwy. 54. Lowery was air lifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla., but released Monday morning.
A family friend at the scene of the accident said Lowery had just unloaded the 4-wheeler from the back of a pickup when the accident occurred.
“He was just tooling around the yard, when he went to go up an incline in the back yard,” the family friend said. “He tried to go up, and the 4-wheeler came down on top of him.”
Emergency personnel, fearful Lowery suffered a punctured lung in the accident, air lifted him from the home’s backyard; however, closer examination at the hospital revealed he had two broken ribs.
