FHS girls beat Geneva County

Florala swept Geneva County in an area doubleheader Thursday, defeating the Lady Bulldogs 5-0, 4-1.

Lily Ritzel threw another no-hitter and struck out 12 batters in the first game, and the Wildcats swung the bat in the second game win.

Geneva County 0

Florala took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Keadra Avan hit a deep ball to allow Ritzel to score. Ritzel reached on a walk, and stole second and third base.

In the fourth inning, the Lady Wildcats got two quick outs before Lyndsee Edwards, Grace Cox and Katilyn Geohagan all got hits.

FHS scored on one walk to Kendyl McDaniel and then Ritzel cleared the bases with a double to put the Lady Wildcats ahead 5-0.

Geneva County 1

Bailea Rickett hit a two-run shot to score McDaniel and Ritzel in the first inning to give FHS an early 2-0 lead in the first inning.

The Lady Wildcats scored one run in the third inning when McDaniel got on second on a double, and then scored on a hit by Sammy Hammac.

The Lady Wildcats scored one run in the fourth inning when Rickett scored from second base on a hit to left by Geohagan.

Ritzel allowed one hit, and found herself with bases loaded and the go-ahead run at the plate in the final inning, but she struck out the side to give the Lady Wildcats the sweep.

The Lady Wildcats will host McKenzie on Monday at 4 p.m.
