Andalusia girls tennis coach Daniel Bulger said the team is “looking forward” to competing in the Class 4A state tournament today and tomorrow at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile.
“The girls are excited,” Bulger said. “I hope we all play well. The competition will be tough. A lot of it depends on how the draw works out.
“I’d like for us to win a few first round matches for sure,” he said.
At tennis tournaments, players won’t know who they will play until their opponents are drawn.
The Lady Bulldogs have six players going to the tournament this week, and their seeding in singles and doubles is as follows:
Singles
• No. 1 – Jennifer Botta
• No. 2 – Meredith Tillman
• No. 3 – Sarah Atkinson
• No. 4 – Susie Watson
• No. 5 – Anna Beth Bowden
• No. 6 – Elizabeth Christensen
Doubles
• No. 1 – Botta and Atkinson
• No. 2 – Tillman and Watson
• No. 3 – Bowden and Christensen
“Hopefully, we’ll have somebody to make it to Friday (in the semifinals),” Bulger said. “We’re looking forward to it.”
