RHONDA GENEVA WALKER

Rhonda Geneva Walker, 31, of Andalusia, died unexpectedly on Mon., April 30, 2012, in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Thurs., May 3, at 10 a.m. in the Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Red Coleman officiating and Keahey Funeral Homes directing. Burial will follow in Stone Lake Gardens.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8 tonight.

She is survived by her sons, Dalton Blakenkenship and Dayton Smith; her mother, Grace Pinion; her father, Ricky A. Walker; her sisters, Anna Walker, Sara Walker and Edna Foxworth; her brothers, Russell Walker, Scotty Edgar and Tony Ainsworth; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gilbert Ainsworth and Ruby Sizemore and James and Virginia Walker.

JACK COOK

Jack Cook, 85, of Andalusia, died Mon., April 30, 2012, in the Andalusia hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., today, Wed., May 2, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eugene Meadows officiating and burial following in Goodhope Cemetery. Visitation will be at Foreman Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Bruce Robertson of Pace, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, George and Mary Upchurch of Knoxville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Robertson, Bruce Robertson Jr., Michael Robertson, Judd Granger, Tim Upchurch and Johnathan Burris.

WILLIAM CLARENCE BATES

William Clarence Bates, 96, of Red Level, passed away Sun., April 29, 2012, in the Andalusia Manor.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., today, Wed., May 2, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Turman and Rev. Brent Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Pigeon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

He is survived by his daughter, Betty King of Destin, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Janice Bates; sister, Sue (Alvin) Ratcliff of Red Level; grandchildren, Becky (Ronnie) Owens, Rudy (Cathy) King and Tammy (Gary) McKay; great-grandchildren, Todd Rutledge, Torey Cobb and Angie Morey; great-great grandchildren, Aaron and Allison Rutledge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Hester Bates; his son, Billy J. Bates; his brother, Cleveland Bates; and sisters, Adell Browder Spears and Maybelle Davis.

HERBERT “DEEK” GLASS

Herbert “Deek” Glass, 81, of Demopolis, died Sat., April 28, 2012 in Calvary.

He was born July 31, 1930, in Linden, the son of Linwood and Hazel Wingate Glass. He was a member of the Fairhaven Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was a loving family man who was born, reared and passed away at his family farm in Calvary, which he loved. He spent countless hours there. It wasn’t unusual for him to gather the surrounding community children and families for holiday festivities at his farm. He was a community advocate for the rights of others.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Nell Glass of Demopolis; two sons, Herbert Clinton Glass Jr. of Pensacola, Fla., and Steve Linwill (Deborah) Glass of Millry; four grandchildren, Shannon Glass and Brittany Glass of Merritt Island, Fla., Ben Glass and Kayla Glass of Millry; six nieces, Gail Flowers, Sheryl Vice, both of Demopolis, Patricia Smith of Opelika, Jeanine Glass of Huntsville, Jessica Bradford and Jennifer Parten, both of Dixons Mills; and three nephews, Mike Glass of Demopolis, Charlie Bradford of Dixons Mills and Hootie Allen of Arab.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Linwood Glass and Thurman Glass, and two sisters, Virginia Flowers and Frances Bradford.

Visitation will be held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden today, Wed., May 2, from 3 p.m. until the 4 p.m. Service time with Dr. Allen Atkins officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Shiloh Cemetery in Dixons Mills.
