JAMES WARREN MERRILL

James Warren Merrill of Andalusia passed away on Sat., May 12, 2012.

He was born in 1923 in Rose Hill, one of three children to Mr. and Ms. Jess Merrill. His early childhood was spent in Evergreen prior to moving to Andalusia, where he attended Andalusia High School. His collegiate career was cut short when he was drafted during World War II. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre.

He; his brother, Jake; and his father, Jess, operated J.M. Merrill Motors, the Chrysler dealership, in Andalusia for more than 40 years. He was a former president of the Andalusia Kiwanis Club and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Andalusia.

He is survived by one sister, Becky Wilder of Decatur; one son, Mike Merrill of Montgomery; stepdaughter, Sandra Morrow of Alpharetta, Ga.; step-grandson, David Morrow of Andalusia; step-granddaughters, Donna Morrow and Tiffany Morrow of Alpharetta, Ga.; cousin, Frances Stanley of Montgomery; and step-niece, Cindy Hobbie of Alpharetta, Ga.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., today, Tues., May 15, at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Fred Karthaus officiating, with burial following in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. today at Foreman Funeral Home.

The family will accept flowers or memorial may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Pallbearers will be Craig Hill, Jimmy Faulkner, Kyle Gantt, Huey Greene, Joe David Moore and Earl McBryde.

LINDA FAYE NANCE

Linda Faye Nance, 57, passed away May 13, 2012, at her home in Laurel Hill, Fla.

Funeral services will be held on Wed., May 16, at 2 p.m., at Bethel Assembly of God in Laurel Hill, Fla., with the Rev. Jack Day officiating. Burial will follow at the Paxton Cemetery. Keahey Funeral Home will be directing the services.

The family will receive visitors beginning at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Assembly of God in Laurel Hill, Fla.

She is survived by her husband, David Nance of Paxton, Fla.; her son, Michael (Debbie) Nance of Colorado; her daughter, Susan (Holland) Bowman of Paxton, Fla.; and seven grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Wayne Spicer of Quincy, Fla., Lewis Crawford and Tommy Crawford; and sisters, Glenda Fountain and Lavon Reese, all of Florala.

SARA FRANCES CRAFT

Sara Frances Craft, 76, of Opp, died Sun., May 13, 2012, in a local nursing facility.

Funeral services will be held on Wed., May 16, at 2 p.m., at Wyatt Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Morris, the Rev. Randy Breedlove and the Rev. Brent Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens in Opp. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials made to Covenant Hospice.

She is survived by daughters, Susan Russell and Karen (Danny) Ayers; sons, Robert Ward (Cheryl) Craft, David Lloyd (Gayle) Craft and Gregory Stephen (Susanne) Craft; brother, Charles Ward III; sister, Judy Buck; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Frances Ward, and husband, Bobby Craft.
