For locals who don’t have much time, but may want to relax after work or during lunch or maybe on the weekend while waiting in line at Hilltop, J&S AquaMassage may have something for you.

The new salon and spa opened its doors earlier this month, and offers 10, 15 and 20-minute full body massages, and one doesn’t even have to take his or her clothes off.

Owner Judy Smith said that AquaMassage helps relieve chronic back pain in muscles resulting from many conditions such as fibromyalgia, and that a 20- minute AquaMassage is equal to one hour of traditional massage.

Just how does this work, one might ask?

Lying on your tummy on a comfortable full-length cushion, 36 computer-controlled water jets simulate a fingertip massage.

Three sides of your body are massaged while you remain fully clothed.

“There are eight levels of pressure,” Smith said. “It has a memory set buttons, so depending on your height, you are not losing any time.”

Additionally for those who have hair, body and skin care needs, the business offers a full line of services.

Lecole Bush is the cosmetologist.

“We offer facials, body scrubs, body wraps, foot detox, waxing, hair care including haircuts, shampoo and sets, coloring services, hi-lighting, perms and even prom and pageant hair and make-up,” Smith said.

Spa packages are also available.

Smith is a special education teacher at McKenzie, and said she was looking for something different to do this summer, so she and her husband, Scott, opened the business next to Hilltop in Gantt.

Business hours are Monday through Wednesday 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday 9 a.m. until.
