A Hardee’s employee is facing theft and credit card fraud charges after she allegedly found a co-worker’s credit card in the parking lot and used it.

Sgt. Jason Curry with the Andalusia Police Department said the incident occurred May 15, involving 22-year-old Lakan A. Smith.

“There had been a breaking and entering in the parking lot of a Hardee’s employee’s car, and her wallet was stolen,” Curry said. “Miss Smith claims she found the card in the parking lot and used it four times, back-to-back, at a local retail establishment. After we reviewed the security video, she admitted to us that she used the card.”

Smith was jailed on four counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and one count of theft of lost property. She was booked into the Covington County Jail and held under a $50,000 bond.
