The Opp Utilities board this week passed on a 1 mill credit to its customers, effective on electric bills due in July.

Mayor H.D. Edgar said the city’s wholesale power supplier, PowerSouth Energy Cooperative passed a purchase power credit of 1 mill per kilowatt hours at its May board meeting.

“The credit would equate to a savings of approximately $12 for every 1,150 kilowatt hours used, which will help when bills tend to be higher due to summer heat,” Edgar said in a press release.
