Fishing derby set for weekend

Get ready to have a “reel” good time this Sat., June 9, as the U.S. Forest Service and partners host the annual free youth fishing derby.

The event, which is open to youth ages 3-15, will be held from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the USDA Service Center on the South Bypass, in front of the Covington Center Arena. It is sponsored by the U.S. Forest Service and its partners – the Andalusia Kiwanis Club, Covington County 4-H, Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries and the Covington County National Resources and Conservation Service.

Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian, and participants must bring their own bait and tackle. Participants can enjoy free food, door prizes and educational programs.
