Summer reading program starts today

Today, Thurs. June 7, will mark the start of the Andalusia Public Library’s 44th annual summer reading program.

The summer season will begin with a 3 p.m. balloon release in the parking lot, followed by a “Creatures of The Night” program in the Dixon Room. Children will get to see, touch, and interact with nighttime animals.

Door prizes and art paper will be given out weekly.

There will also be a children’s art contest is those ages 4-12. Entries may be crayons, makers, drawings or paintings. Cash prizes will be awarded to winners.

For the teens, there will be a photography contest for those ages 13- 18. Entries may be black and white or color and up to the 8×10 size.
