Yankees beat Braves

The Yankees topped the Braves 11-5 in 13-to-15-year-old Babe Ruth baseball action Monday night at Andalusia High School.

Both teams were tied at 2-2 after the first inning, but the Yankees added two runs in the third to take the lead and never looked back.

The Braves only added two runs in the fourth and one run in the sixth in the loss. However, the Yankees added three runs in the fourth inning to pull away and led 7-4.

In the sixth inning, the Yankees scored four runs compared to the Braves’ one to get the win.

Devan McDuffie struck out six batters and allowed two runs on four hits in four innings to get the win on the mound for the Yankees.

Riley Eiland went 3-for-4 with three singles and three runs to lead the Yankees. Ashton Elmore went 2-for-2 with two singles and four runs; McDuffie went 1-for-3 with three runs; and Bradley Garner went 3-for-3 with three singles and one run.

For the Braves, Jerran went 2-for-3 with two singles.

The Yankees will face the Devil Rays tomorrow night at 5:30; and the Braves will face the Rangers on Friday night at 5:30 to close out the regular season.
