Law enforcement is searching for a man in connection with a Friday afternoon shooting in Andalusia.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. at a doublewide trailer on Antioch Road, located just before Hart’s Country Store.

The victim, a male, was not identified, but Chief Deputy David Anderson with the Covington County Sheriff’s Office said law enforcement is searching for 49-year-old Arthur Lucal Jr. in connection with the shooting.

“What I can say at this point is a male subject was shot,” Anderson said. “He suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported by Advanced EMS to Andalusia Regional Hospital for treatment.

“We are searching for Mr. Lucal, who apparently fled the scene on foot,” Anderson said.

Anderson said there were witnesses to the incident, and CCSO investigators were working to determine exactly what happened before releasing any other information.

Anderson declined to comment on what led to the shooting, stating only that anyone with any information about Lucal’s whereabouts should call 911.

Lucal is described as a white male, approximately 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white shirt. He is possibly armed. He remained at large when The Star-News went to press.

This is the second shooting in Covington County this week. On Tuesday, a Carolina man was shot and killed by his brother and faces a murder charge.

It is unknown what charge and/or charges Lucal will face once arrested.
