Opp scored three runs early, and took the definite lead late to beat Brewton 14-4 in the 10U All-Stars District Championship on Thursday night in Evergreen.
“I thought we played well,” Opp coach Michael Smithart said. “I think, as far as the tournament goes, we gave up nine runs in four games. We’re pretty proud of that.
“Our goal going into the tournament was to win every inning, and we managed to do that,” he said. “So, we’re pretty pleased with how we played.”
With this victory, Opp and Brewton will advance to play in the 10U state tournament next week in Florence. Both teams need to report to the tournament on Fri., June 29. The first game is slated for Sat., June 30.
