The 14-to-15-year-old Babe Ruth District Tournament will be held from tomorrow until Tues., July 3, at Andalusia High School’s baseball field.

Three local teams — Andalusia, Covington County and Opp’s All-Stars — will compete in the tournament, which is the pre-cursor to the state tournament.

The winner and runner up from the tournament advance to the state tournament, which will be held in Monroeville.

Tournament format is in double elimination.

The only game tomrrow night will be between Opp and Crenshaw County at 5:30.

Kinston and Andalusia have first-round byes.

Friday’s action includes Kinston facing the winner of Crenshaw County-Opp at 5:30 p.m., and Ariton facing Covington County at 8.

Additionally, there will be 13-year-old teams playing in a round-robin type tournament. The games will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday. Opp will face Covington County at 9 a.m.; and Andalusia will face Opp at 2 p.m. The last game for the 13 year olds will be on Sunday at 1 p.m. between Covington County and Andalusia.

Later on Saturday, the winner of Ariton-Covington County will face Andalusia at 11:30 a.m.

Elimination bracket play will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, and the second game of the bottom bracket will be at 7 p.m.

The winner’s bracket championship game will be at 7 p.m. Sunday.

The tournament championship is slated for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Admission to the tournament is $5 for adults per day, $3 for students per day and children 6 and under get in free.
