RUBY JEANETTE MOTLEY

Ruby Jeanette Motley, 74, of Andalusia, died Tues., June 26, 2012, in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Sat., June 30, at 2 p.m., at Foreman Funeral Home with minister Michelle Hannah officiating.

Visitation is tonight from 6 to 8.

She was preceded in death by her son, Martin A. Langford.

She is survived by two sons, Tonney Langford of Andalusia and Jimmy Langford of Crestview, Fla.

RAYCEIL TURNER WILLIAMS

Rayceil Turner Williams, 87, of Andalusia, died Wed., June 27, 2012, in a local nursing facility. Graveside services will be 11 AM Friday June 29, 2012 at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Pritchett officiating and Foreman Brown-Service Funeral home directing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Williams, and sister, Syble Turner Beam.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Williams Philyaw of Andalusia; and grandchildren, Tiffany Philyaw of Dothan and Lindsey Philyaw of Andalusia.

 

KENNETH BROOKS SMITH

Kenneth Brooks Smith, 66, a resident of Goshen, died Wed., June 27, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Sat., June 30, at the Luverne Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Church with Brother John Salay officiating. Interment will follow in Good Hope Cemetery, with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home and at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Eleanor Smith; and grandparents, Grady and Louie Brooks and Ernest and Mollie Smith.

He is survived by one sister, Elaine (Charles) Wood; one brother, Robert H. Smith; four nephews, Robert Smith, David (Debby) Wood, Jason (Kim) Wood and Jed (Selena) Wood; and one niece, Misha Smith.

Active pallbearers will be David Wood, Jason Wood, Jed Wood, Robert Smith, Simon Harris and Darryl Harris.

 

EVELY CHAVERS GANUS

Evelyn Chavers Ganus, 94, of Andalusia, passed away Wed., June 27, 2012, in Dothan.

Grave-side services will be held at 10 a.m., Sat., June 30, at Adellum Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastors Ed Ganus and Randy Kelley officiating and Sunset Funeral Home directing.

The family requests no flowers but memorial donations may be made to Adellum Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 386, Andalusia, AL 36420.

She was born Oct. 27, 1917, in the Adellum Community. She grew up in Adellum, but lived her adult life in Andalusia. She married James Elton Ganus in 1936. They celebrated 69 years of marriage at his death in 2005. She owned Evelyn’s Flowers in Andalusia for 36 years. She enjoyed flowers, people and life. She will be greatly missed by her family and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vallie Lee Hare Chavers and Henry Allen Chavers; her brothers, B.E. Chavers, Buddy Chavers, Mutt Chavers, Maurice Chavers and Guy Chavers; grandson, Chris Still; and great-grandson, Holt Rowland.

Survivors include her children, J. Don (Barbara) Ganus of Blackshear, Ga., Patricia (Joe) Whitehurst of Andalusia and Cheryl (Ken) Still of Dothan; brothers, Elon Chavers of Andalusia, A.G. Chavers of Pensacola, Fla., Bobby Chavers of Pace, Fla., and Henry Allan Chavers Jr., Homer Chavers and Vernon Chavers, all of Evergreen; a sister, Dottie Salter of Bowling Green, Ky.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
