Connie S. Buckley has announced her bid for District 1 on the Florala City Council.

“To God be the glory for he has done great things for me,” Buckley said. “And I thank him for that.”

Buckley said she has been in Florala for 50 years.

“I was raised under the love and care of my grandparents the late Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo Caldwell and their 15 kids,” she said. “We had some hard times, but God brought us through. They both are gone home to be with the Lord.”

Buckley attended Florala Middle School from kindergarten through eighth grade and Florala High School from ninth through 12th grade.

“I graduated from there in 1980,” she said. “I went to work at Franklin Ferguson Factory in Florala for seven years. Later I got married and am a proud mother of four kids, one of which passed away. I am also a proud grandmother of six. I have one son-in-law and one daughter-in-law and fire step-grandchildren.”

She also worked at Florala Memorial Hospital for 25 years, where she was dedicated to service for the community and surrounding area.

Buckley described herself as a dedicated person, who is always willing to help.

“If you know me, you would know that I am a very dedicated person, and that I am always willing to help someone especially concerning the elderly,” she said. “I love spending time with my best friend, Frank DeVaughn, and his family.”

Buckley also said she loves the Lord, her church family, family and friends.

She attends First African Baptist Church in Florala.

“In saying that I think that I am a very capable person to serve as a council member for District 1,” she said. “If elected, my goal would be to have a fair and honest voice and become as good as my friend Grady Hobbs. He has gone to be with the Lord.

“Please support me and vote,” she said. “May God Bless you all are in my prayers.”
