ACS hires final personnel

Andalusia City Schools wrapped up its hiring for the upcoming school year Wednesday night.
The board took the following personnel actions:
• approved the transfer of Angie Bowden from third grade teacher to media specialist at Andalusia Elementary School. Superintendent Ted Watson said Bowden would use a secondary-alt certificate to fill the position, which he said is “kosher” with the state.
• approved the hire of Matt Johnson as math teacher at Andalusia High School; Nancy Wilson as seventh grade English teacher at Andalusia Middle School; Tambry Gadd as eighth grade math teacher at AMS; Allison Stroud as special education teacher at Andalusia Elementary School; and Amber Clark as third grade teacher at AES.
“All but one of these new hires are prior graduates of Andalusia High School,” Watson said.
Additionally, the board approved academic and extra curricular supplements for the following:
• Sherry Strickland, kindergarten chair; Elizabeth Starr and Suzanne Cotton, first grade chairs; Beverly Moore and Jill Bryant, second grade chairs; Beth Weed, third grade chair; Morgan Davis, fourth grade chair; Traneshia Stoudemire, fifth grade chair and Joy Sowards, special areas chair. Kayla Gorum and Shae Page will serve as AES yearbook sponsors.
• Lee Stacks, AMS band director; Lynn Castleberry, sixth grade chair; Joseph Caldwell, seventh grade chair; Sandra Dendy, eighth grade chair; and Sharyn Smith, yearbook sponsor.
• Bennie Shellhouse, band director; Paula Sue Duebelt, choral director; Nicole Jackson, math chair; Angie Sasser, science chair; Dawn Thompson, English chair, Perry Dillard, history chair; Joni Brannon, fine arts chair; Jane Barr, special education chair; Dawn Thompson, yearbook sponsor; and Cavelle Jones, SGA sponsors.
