Lovin’ Lake Life

Brandon Nall shows off the unique décor and merchandise available at his new store, Lake Life.

Lake life – it’s not only a lifestyle, but it’s also the newest business to open its doors on U.S. Hwy. 29.

Owner Brandon Nall said he and his wife, Ashley, their two children, and a host of family and friends spend every available moment on the waters of Gantt Lake and Pt. A boating, skiing, tubing and wakeboarding.

A fourth-generation construction worker who works with family, Nall said it’s always been his dream to own his own business. When the opportunity presented itself to combine his love of the water with his love of business, he flipped – pun intended – at the opportunity.

“Things have gotten so big up at the lake,” Nall said. “When the weather turns warm, things start happening and boaters come out. This shop is a place where you can get what you need to enjoy lake life – from a new wakeboard to swim shorts.”

The store also offers life jackets, ski ropes and handles and tubes, he said.

Nall said the majority of the water sport items must be purchased out of town or online.

“Not now,” he said. “If we don’t have it in stock, I can get it here in about a day.”

As for the store’s logo, Nall said the idea was a joint effort.

“My buddies and I wanted something we could put on the back of our trucks,” he said. “My friend is a graphic artist, and one thing led to another, and we had our brand.”

Nall and his family live in the Straughn community, about a mile from the lake.

“Every afternoon and every weekend, we’re on the water,” he said. “My 4-year-old daughter just got her own board. We all just hang out and enjoy our time. If the lake is too busy to wake, we just cruise.

“Being on the water is so relaxing,” he said. “But it’s a different feeling when you’re tubing or wakeboarding.

“You’re on top of the water, coasting along,” he said. “It’s calming, serene even, crossing back and forth over the wake. But when you hit that big wave and get that big flip or spin, it’s amazing.

“It’s a big achievement to get that new trick,” he said. “And here at Lake Life, we’ve got everything you need to get you on the water and enjoying the day.”

Lake Like is located on U.S. Hwy. 29 North. The store is open Tuesday through Friday from noon until 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

The store features clothing by Dunkel Volk and elevated for men and women.
