Opp, Florala to host election forums

The Opp Chamber of Commerce will host a political forum for candidates for city board of education, city council and mayor on Mon., Aug. 13, at the LBWCC – MacArthur Campus Conference Center at 6 p,m,
Candidates will be given four minutes to present their accomplishments, plans and positions. There will be no rebuttals from opponents, and no questions from the public.
The forum will be followed with time for mingling with the candidates. Hardee’s will provide refreshments.

Florala residents will get an opportunity to meet and greet their municipal candidates on Aug. 23 at the Carver Community Center at 6 p.m.
Mayoral candidate will be given 10 minutes to state their position, while each council member candidate will be given five minutes to do the same.
After each candidate is finished, the floor will be open to the audience for questions from the floor.
Invited candidates include:
• For mayor: Robert Williamson, the incumbent, and Danny Franklin, former mayor;
• District 1: Hazel Lee, the incumbent, and Connie Buckley; and,
• District 4: Jimmy Waldrop, the incumbent, and Pat Carmical.
