Gloria Gant and Melissa Eckenrod look through newly delivered curricula at Dimples Daycare on Monday.

There’s a new face on staff at Dimples Daycare – Gloria Gant, a 16-year education veteran, who is now the school’s day care director.

“I’m excited about starting a job in Andalusia,” Gant said. “It’s all new, but it’s good. I hope to work her for years.”

Gant is a native of Oxford, where she graduated from Oxford High School. She attended Gadsden State where she majored in human services and early childhood development.

She has previously held positions as assistant director of centers with more than 100 children.

Gant recently made her home in Andalusia with her new husband, Billy.

“I know she will be great with the children, parents and staff,” said Melissa Eckenrod, owner.

Eckenrod said there is still time to apply for the facility’s preschool program, which on Monday received a new shipment of the latest Abeka curricula. Preschool start Aug. 27.

“I love the Abeka program,” Eckenrod said. “We’ve seen great results and we have used Abeka for six years now. I wouldn’t change it for anything.”

“We offer childcare for newborns to 5,” Eckenrod said of the 8-year-old facility. “We have web cams for parents to view their children on the Internet.”

Eckenrod said they are open from 6:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

“Breakfast will be served at 8.am., daily,” Eckenrod said. “We participate in the UDSA food program, and we serve breakfast, lunch and snack.”
