Among the expenses Andalusia Mayor Earl Johnson reported in his election campaign for the past week was $1,100 in advertising to his opponent’s radio station.

In a campaign finance report filed for the week of Aug. 6-10, Johnson’s expenses totaled $3,699, and included $1,100 in advertising to WAAO, owned by his challenger, Blaine Wilson. Other expenses were $1,799 to Pirate Graphics and $800 to WFXX.

Johnson reported no contributions for that time period.

In the same week, Wilson reported cash contributions of $1,550, including $250 from NAPA Auto, Frank Alexander; $200 from Lory and T.J. Scarborough; $500 from Todd and Anna Pate; $500 from Patel and Sledge; and $100 from his parents, Sue and Jimmy Wilson.

In the same time period, Wilson reported $545.24 in expenses, including $50 each to First Unity Missionary Church and Holy Tabernacle Church; $352 to WAAO; and $93.24 to Andalusia Cash and Carry.

Editor’s note: A Star-News story last week about reports for the week of July 30-Aug. 3, should have stated that George and Sarah Momenpour gave the Wilson campaign $1,000 instead of $100. Also, the story should have noted that the Johnson campaign spent $550 with WKNI.
