Road work will begin in Florala on Monday and that students and parents should take note, it may affect travel to the high school, officials said Thursday.

Wiregrass Construction Co. will be resurfacing Hwy. 55 from the Florida state line to Alabama Street in Florala, which is approximately 1.23 miles.

Officials say it could affect local traffic to and from Florala businesses as well as beach traffic.

Construction signs will be erected, posting any changes.

“We ask motorists to be conscious of the work being performed, along with the works that are present,” said project manager Chris Canant.
