GERALDINE ‘GERRI’ WEEKS SMITH

Geraldine “Gerri” Weeks Smith, 76, of Florala, died on Wed., Aug. 15, 2012, in a Dothan hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m., today, Sat., Aug. 18, at Lockhart Baptist Church with the Rev. John Bryan officiating.

She was born March 29, 1936, to Christopher Council and Liza Viola Greene Weeks. She worked as a cook in food services in Las Vegas, where she met and married her husband Patrick Smith on Feb. 14, 1972. Nothing was more important to her than her family. She cherished the times she had with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She relished being “Grandma,” and loved sewing and especially cooking for her family and friends. She also had a gift for making and creating ceramics. She enjoyed giving these special gifts to the ones she loved.

She was a member of Lockhart Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by father, Chistopher Council Weeks; mother, Liza Viola Weeks; and brother, James Lee Weeks.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Patrick Smith of Florala;, three daughters, Deborah (Debbie) Loyd and husband David Runyon of Troy, Juanita Loyd Taylor of Florala and Tracey Marie Phillips and husband Darrell of Yakima, Wash.; two sons, Chip Loyd and wife Cheryl of Raliegh, N.C., and Patrick Troy Smith of Yakima, Wash.; two sisters, Mary Evelyn Morris of Florala and Gail Wright of Samson; one brother, Harold Weeks of Paxton, Fla.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four beloved dogs who were her babies, Sweet Pea, Liza Dene, Cheyene and Tiny. She had a love for animals, and donations in her name can be given to The Humane Society of Pike County, PO Box 296, Troy, AL 36081.

 

KATHLEEN NORRIS MARTIN FRAZIER

Kathleen Norris Martin Frazier, 80, passed away on Thurs., Aug. 16, 2012, at a nursing home facility in Florida.

Funeral services will be held on Sun., Aug. 19, at 2 p.m., at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with Keahey Funeral Home directing and the Rev. Tucker Aplin officiating. Internment will follow to the North Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.

Survivors include her brothers, Tom (Nancy) Norris and Quitman David Norris, both of Pensacola, Fla., sisters-in-law, Evelyn Norris of Wing and Addie Norris of Pensacola, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

aShe was preceded in death by her husbands, Wade Martin and Oscar Frazier; brothers, Corie Norris, William Cecil Norris, James Otis Norris and O. C. Norris; and sisters, Mae Turner,  Nevie Martin, Faye Henderson and Cokie Duncan.
