Supporters of the Andalusia Ballet have an opportunity for a fun night out this weekend at the organization’s annual auction benefit, which this year sports a Caribbean Calypso theme.

Auction chairwoman Gina Kerr said board members are still collecting items for the event, which includes two vacations, custom-made jewelry, a John Harbuck knife, a portrait package from Vicki Popwell, autographed footballs, and original art, as well as an assortment of other items.

For the past two years, the ballet has raffled a stay in Roy Mohon’s Destin beach house, a five-bedroom, four-bath retreat. This year, that week-long vacation will be sold as a live auction item.

There is a second vacation in the auction, as well as a quail hunt, and footballs autographed by Nick Saban and Gene Chizik.

For local football fans, there also is a print done by a Tuscaloosa artist that features Andalusia native Nico Johnson which has been signed by Johnson.

There also is custom-made jewelry from Christopher’s, original art work by Rick Long and Barbara Nichols, and a number of spa-type packages.

The annual even features silent and live auctions, as well as food and entertainment.

A steel drummer from Atlanta will be part of the Caribbean-themed entertainment, as will entertainment by students of the Andalusia Ballet.

The attire is island casual, and the food also will have a Caribbean theme.

Tickets are $35 each, and are available from the Andalusia Ballet and at the door. The event begins at 6 p.m. at the Andalusia County Club.
