Johnson, Wilson final week reports

Financial disclosure reports for the final week of campaigning for the Aug. 28 municipal elections showed Andalusia candidates were nearly neck-and-neck in raising contributions, while one outspent the other by nearly $2,000.

The incumbent Earl Johnson reported $1,500 in contributions – $300 in non-itemized cash contributions and $1,200 in donations. Donating were Robert Williams, $200; Henderson Sewing Machine, $500, and Gary Smith, $500, all of Andalusia. He also reported $2,500 as a receipt from himself.

Johnson spent $3,253 for advertising – $2,605 to Davis Direct and $648 to Pirate Graphics.

Blaine Wilson reported $1,231 in contributions and $4,117 in expenses. Donating to the Wilson campaign were Andalusia residents Phillip and Loretta Mott, $100; Horace and Loretta Bailey, $200: M.J. Parrish III, $70; Jeff Teel, $100; Catherine Brown, $200; Wynne Wilson Glenn, $100; and Pahysha Videla, $385. Wilson also reported a $76 “other” contribution from his parents, Sue and Jimmy Wilson.

Wilson spent $1,854 in advertising with his radio/television station, WAAO; $2,150 with the Signman; and $12.83 at Marvin’s. Wilson also documented a $100 donation to the Covington County Sheriff’s Posse to purchase a new tracking dog.
