Andalusia City Schools introduced at $14.5 million budget Monday night.

The system is projected to receive $8.94 million from the state of Alabama in the 2013 fiscal year, $1.72 million in federal funds, $3.16 million in local revenues and $467,000 in other revenues.

The system’s expenditures are slightly less than its total revenues at $14.4 million.

Of that, $7.99 million is set aside for instruction services; $1.8 million for instructional support services; $1.3 million for operations and maintenance; $1.4 million for auxiliary services; $711,000 for general administrative services; $604,000 for debt service and $579,000 for other expenditures.

ACS chief financial officer Jean Sellers said she anticipates the general fund ending fund balance on Sept. 30, 2012 to be $1.9 million.

Sellers said that’s about 2.1 months of reserve funds. State law requires school systems to maintain a one month’s operating reserve, which equates to nearly $900,000 for the system.

The next budget hearing will be Sept. 10, at 6 p.m. at Andalusia Middle School.

All meetings are open to the public.
