An 11-year-old boy was seriously injured in an ATV crash Tuesday night near River Falls.

The wreck occurred at a residence off Sunnyside Street at approximately 7:15 p.m.

Chief Deputy David Anderson said the boy, who was not identified, suffered a serious, but non-life threatening, injury to his leg.

Emergency personnel hoped to transport the child via Life Flight to a nearby hospital; however, the helicopter was able to travel due to weather conditions, he said.

The child was transported to Andalusia Regional Hospital by Advanced EMS.

River Falls police chief Greg Jackson is investigating the accident, Anderson said.

Personnel with the River Falls Volunteer Fire Department, the Covington County Sheriff’s Office and the Alabama Beverage Control Board responded to the accident.
