51 plead guilty in August term

Of the 51 cases disposed in August by the Covington County District Attorney’s Office, it was a nearly even split between drug-related and property crimes.
District Attorney Walt Merrell said defendants in 16 drug cases pled, while 15 in property-related crimes entered guilty pleas, and of those more than half received prison time.
Pleas were accepted in the following cases against:
• Sara Kate Chase Blaze, receiving stolen property II, and sentenced to 24 months probation. Attorney: Rod Sylvester
• Anthony L. Brown, theft of property II, and sentenced to 115 months in prison. Attorney: ChaLea Tisdale
• Tricia M. Burnett, fraudulent use of a credit/debit card, and sentenced to 31 months imprisonment. She was granted a 12-month reverse split sentence. Attorney: Gypsy Smith. In a separate case, Burnett pleaded guilty to theft of property II and received the same sentence. Attorney: Sonny James
• Jackie Marvin Cook Jr., unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance II, and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. Attorney: Riley Powell
• Jacob M. Crawley, receiving stolen property II, and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. Attorney: Benton Persons
• Liesha M. Creech, attempted possession of a controlled substance, and entered into Drug Court. Attorney: Chris Sledge
• Joshua R. Davis, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and entered into Drug Court. Attorney: Riley Powell
• Linda M. Douglas, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and entered into Drug Court. Attorney: Manish Patel
• Kenry T. Ferrell, receiving stolen property II, and sentenced to 31 months probation. Attorney: Diana Mock
• Janie L. Hanlan, forgery II, and sentenced to 31 months probation. Attorney: Manish Patel
• Michael Paul Kennedy, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment. Attorney: Trey Burgess
• Rachel M. McLaughlin, receiving stolen property II, and sentenced to 31 months probation. Attorney: Corey Bryan
• Louis L. Maag, theft of property I, and sentenced to 15 years in prison. Attorney: Stuart K. Smith
• Jose P. Martinez, attempted possession of a controlled substance, and sentenced to six years in prison. Attorney: Bill Alverson
• John E. Meisenheimer, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and sentenced to 31 months of probation. Attorney: David Baker
• Adam P. Miller, unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance II, and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. Attorney: Bill Alverson
• Alvin E. Patrick, unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, and sentenced to 15 years in prison. Attorney: Gypsy Smith
• Lee K. Peacock, robbery II, and sentenced to 10 years in prison. Attorney: Corey Bryan
• Herbert E. Rogers II, assault II, and sentenced to 15 years in prison. Attorney: Manish Patel
• Bobby E. Steele, unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance II, and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment. In a separate case, he pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and received the same sentence. Attorney: Tiffany McCord
• Cory L. Toney, theft of property II, and sentenced to 16 years in prison. Attorney: Trey Burgess
• Debra C. Ward, unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, and sentenced to 20 years in prison. Attorney: Sonny James
• Billy Ray Weaver, receiving stolen property II, and sentenced to 15 years in prison. Attorney: Corey Bryan
• Lewis M. Whitehurst, unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance II, and sentenced to 10 years in prison. Attorney: Corey Bryan
• David B. Williamson, unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, and sentenced to 10 years in prison in two separate cases. In a third case, Blake pleaded guilty to theft of property II and was sentenced to three years in prison; however, a probation hearing is set for Oct. 10 in all three cases. Attorney: Trey Burgess
• Timothy P. Worley, unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance II, and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment. Attorney: Benton Persons
