Andalusia natives and brother and sister duo Jay and Anna Bay McCord were both selected to represent Troy University as Trojan Ambassadors this year, a feat no other brother and sister have ever accomplished.

The pair was selected as two of the only 39 students from the university after completing an interview process.

As ambassadors, they serve as the official hosts at university events throughout the year, and give campus tours to prospective students.

This year is Anna Bay’s first year on the job, while this is Jay’s second.

“It’s really awesome,” Anna Bay said. “We are the only brother and sister. It’s really fun, but it’s also rough sometimes. For me, it’s awesome because he’s my older brother and he serves as my mentor. He’s someone for me to look up to, and I really enjoy having him around.”

Jay agreed.

“This is my second year,” he said. “I was looking forward to it, and I told (Anna Bay) about it and how much fun I have had. Now we are able to do it together. It’s really cool to see her follow in my footsteps while making her own way.”

Both agreed it’s a great opportunity because they get to meet new people and be a part of important Troy events.

“We’re just so involved,” Anna Bay said. “You get to do things that no one else does. You get to learn history about Troy, and for me, the best part is knowing that I have the opportunity to persuade people coming to Troy.”

Jay agreed.

“I’ve met so many cool people,” he said. “I tell them I’m from Andalusia and they know someone from Andalusia or they used to live there. It’s all about making connections.”

Anna Bay is a sophomore psychology major and a 2011 Andalusia High School graduate. Among her other activities are SGA senator, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Chi Omega, Freshmen Forum, and she works in the student development office.

Jay is a senior physical therapy major and a 2009 AHS graduate.

His other activities include Sigma Chi, Freshman Forum, Impact leader, and he works in the Troy University Admission Office.

They are the children of Lynne McCord of Andalusia and the late Greg McCord.
