To better serve its “village,” David and Laura Darby at Darby’s Village Pharmacy has expanded to a second location.

Known as Darby’s Medical Center Pharmacy, the new storefront is located in the newly constructed medical plaza across from Andalusia Regional Hospital.

Customers familiar with the couple’s East Three Notch store know exactly why the couple decided to expand.

“This place is probably about three times the size of our other store,” said pharmacist Laura Darby. Darby will serve as the pharmacist at the new location, while husband David continues to operate the E3N store, she said.

“We aren’t closing the other location, so we don’t want our customers to worry,” she said. “We had an opportunity when we were approached about this new location, and we took it. It’s got a drive-thru. We can now offer durable medical equipment, and we have a room where we can hold flu shot clinics, blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings, and education classes.

“The space is just wonderful,” she said. “All of the information on our computers – charge accounts and prescription history – is on a shared system between both stores, so customers don’t have to worry.”

One thing customers will also be pleased about is the newly added line of gift ideas, featuring everything from collegiate wear and baby gifts to home décor items, and chosen by the couple’s daughter, Sarah.

“We even have a photo kiosk where you can print photos from Facebook, plus we’ve got the perfect frame for the picture, too,” Darby said. “One thing we’re very excited about is our gift items – especially for new babies. And with us located right across from the hospital, we hope customers will be excited about our new store, too.”

The new location is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

“That way, customers can pick up their prescriptions before school and work or even after work,” Darby said.
