Wildcats have to play their ‘best’ Friday

Florala’s going to have to play its best game Friday night at home against McKenzie, Wildcats head football coach Justin Jones said.
FHS enters this week’s game 3-4 overall, and 1-4 in Class 1A, Region 2. The Wildcats suffered a close 14-12 loss to Kinston last week.
McKenzie (2-5, 2-3) lost 68-7 to Brantley.
“They are a quality opponent and have many weapons,” Jones said about MHS. “We have to play our very best.”
Records aren’t an issue this week, Jones said.
“We don’t look at records,” he said. “We primarily try to continue to make Florala the best it can be.”
In fact, this is the first season the Wildcats have won more than three games since 2007.
The game will come down to who “executes” on offense, Jones said.
“No matter what the other team throws at us, it always comes down to us executing our offense,” he said.
Despite how the season is going, Jones said the players are still up beat.
“We are striving to accomplish things here that haven’t been done in a while,” Jones said. “We are proud of our players and still are striving to out-work our opponents.”
Kick off at Mathews Stadium in Florala is at 7 p.m. on Friday.
