Those looking to get away from the fast-pace of everyday life and to explore their creative sides, may be interested in an upcoming painting class.
The two-day oil painting workshop will be held at Jo Kelley’s Hayfield Studio off of Padgett Road, and Liz Reid will teach the class.
“We’re going to paint from still-life setups and explore some painting outside doing landscape pieces,” she said.
The Hayfield Studio sits beneath a canopy of trees along the river, which offers an array of scenery perfect for budding artists looking to create a landscape masterpiece.
But hurry, the class will fill quickly and there’s a maximum of 12 slots.
The Lower Alabama Arts Coalition is sponsoring the event and Kelley is hosting it.
“We are encouraging all artists to grab a friend and come,” Kelley said. “It’s the perfect scenery, excellent weather, with a good instructor. It’s sure to be a fun time.”
Beginners to advanced artists are welcome to participate.
“You just need the desire to paint,” Reid said.
Participants will leave the workshop with two finished pieces.
Cost of the two-day workshop is $225, and a 50 percent deposit is due at the time of registration to secure a spot.
Participants will be given a supply list at the time of registration.
Lunch will be catered for the workshops.
The date and time for the workshop has yet to be determined.
