Andalusia 11Us win district title

Andalusia shut out Ozark 3-0 to win the 11U All-Stars soccer district tournament championship in Troy on Saturday.
The local team was led by Reese Burkhardt at forward, who scored all three goals for Andalusia in the title game.
The road to the championship wasn’t an easy one for Andalusia.
11-and-under coach Daks Kennedy said the first game ended 1-1 in regular time, forcing a shoot out against Troy, where Andalusia won.
“The whole team played exceptionally well,” Kennedy said. “It was just a really great job by everyone of the players who played.”
Burkhardt scored Andalusia’s goal in regular time and added another score during the shoot out.
Kennedy gave props to team goalie Franklin Osario for his performance during the first game.
“He was they key player for us in saving those shoot out shots,” he said. “He did an exceptional job there.”
Other than Burkhardt’s three goals against Ozark, Kennedy said the team’s midfield and overall defense played well.
“It was an all-around god job by the kids,” he said.
In other action, the 13U co-ed soccer All-Stars lost 6-1 to Ozark; and the 9U boys lost 3-2 to Dothan in the single elimination tournament.
Andalusia’s 11U team advances to play in the state tournament on Sat., Nov. 17, in Dothan at the Westgate Complex in Dothan.
Additionally, since the Andalusia 9U and 11U girls All-Stars didn’t have enough teams at district, both earned a bye to play in the state tournament.
