WILLIE GIRDEN BOOTHE

Willie Girden Boothe, 93, went to be with his Lord peacefully Thurs., Nov. 15, 2012, in a Dothan hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sun., Nov. 18, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ed Ganus and the Rev. Phillip Morgan will officiate.

Interment will follow in Stone Lake Gardens. Special music will be provided by Steven “Bo” Roughton and pianist, Tammy Taylor.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Sat., Nov. 17, at Keahey Funeral Home.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Boothe Roughton and Steven Mark “Bo” Roughton of Andalusia; grandchildren, Cayley Roughton, Robert and David Robert of Clearwater, Fla.; sisters, Merle B. Parker of Enterprise and Margie B. McDaniel of Opp, Jean B. and Donald Lord of Opp; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and numerous cousins and friends.

His wife of 66 years, Myrtle Henderson Boothe; father, Jasper Leon Boothe; mother, Effie Lou Eiland Boothe; and brothers, James Gaston, Jasper Edwin, and Charles Alton Boothe, preceded him in death.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Taylor, Wayne Cauley, Clint Sasser, Steve Parker, Jimmy Boothe, and Mike Boothe.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dallas Henderson, Jake Henderson, Ronald Cope, Donald Lord, Wayne Caylor, friends of the family and Mary Kay representatives.

Mr. Boothe was a lifelong resident of Babbie.

He was a barber for 50 years, a school bus driver for 30 years and a farmer all of his life.

He was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.

He loved working in the church. He was a deacon and taught Sunday school for many years.

 

ROBERT RYALS

Robert Ryals, 59, of Dozier, passed away Wed., Nov. 7, 2012, in the Andalusia hospital.

Private memorial services are being handled by Keahey Funeral Home.

Survivors include his father, Kenneth E. Ryals of Houston; daughters, Monica Ann Monday of Mississippi and Beth Ann Ryals of Dozier; brother, Joseph Ryals of Brewton; sisters, Donna Lefort and Sarah Armstrong, both of Enterprise, and Emilee Robinson of Houston; and six grandchildren.

His mother, Mary Jeanette Padgett Ryals, and brother, Kenneth Dwaine Ryals preceded him in death.

 

HENRIETTA MATTHEWS CHAVERS

Henrietta Matthews Chavers, 88, of Red Level, died Wed., Nov. 14, 2012, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., today, Sat., Nov. 17, at Foreman Funeral Home with Ministers Pete Lee and David Leach officiating.

Interment will follow at Adellum Cemetery.

Her husband, Earl Cortex Chavers, son Marzett Chavers, and grandchildren, Ernie Lamar O’Steen Jr. and Sarah Renee O’Steen, preceded her in death.

She is survived by one son, Marlyon (Deloris) Chavers of Castleberry; two daughters, Katrina Chavers Lewis of Red Level and Edna Chavers (Ernie) O’Steen of Dade City, Fla.; eight grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

 

PAUL A. CHAMBERS

Paul A. Chambers, 65, of Indiana, formerly of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and St. Clairsville, Ohio, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, in Manor Care South, Indianapolis.

Paul was born Dec 1, 1946, in Barnesville, Ohio.

He was a graduate of the St. Clairsville High School class of 1964. He joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 17.

A Vietnam veteran, he retired after 26 years of service to his country. Paul was a member of the American Legion, lifetime member of VFW post 9473, and a member of Thoburn United Methodist Church in St. Clairsville. After retirement he worked for Huntington Bank in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.

He was an avid Ohio State University Buckeye fan, a coin collector, a proud grandfather, and a fanatic gift wrapper.

His mother and father, Leo D. Chambers and Sara B Chambers (nee Seaman), preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Hunter (Bill) of Greenwood, Ind.; his son, Shawn Chambers (Crystal) of Red Level; three grandsons Benjamin, Bradly, and Tanner; a sister, Sharon Puckett (Bill) of California, a brother, Leo “Sam” Chambers (Barbara) of St Clairsville; a sister, Cathy Pennybacker (Bill) of Crosslanes, W.Va.; six nieces and two nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Monday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio, where services will be held on Tuesday at noon with Rev. Dr. Bradley Call officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.

Full military honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of American Legions at noon on Tuesday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.

 

RHONDA GORDON

Rhonda Gordon, 65, of McKenzie, passed away Wed., Nov. 14, 2012, in a Montgomery hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today, Sat., Nov. 16, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Henry officiating and interment following in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include her sons, Donnie Gordon of McKenzie and Michael Gordon of Andalusia; daughters, Sherry Gordon of Andalusia, Cynthia (Albert) Fannin of McKenzie and Terri Holcomb of Andalusia; brother, Robert Cecil (Shirley) Carroll of Mobile; grandchildren, Sam Bass, Katie Bass (Nat) Pickron, Devan Holcomb, Dalton Holcomb, Tabitha Kelley, Alyssa Wiggins and John Dallas Gordon; and great-grandchildren, Natalie Bass, Blaklyn Bass and Khloe Pickron.

Serving as pallbearers will be Sam Bass, Albert Fannin, Dalton Holcomb, Devan Holcomb, Johnny Little and Donnie Gordon.

 

Bobby Gene Mitchell

Bobby Gene Mitchell, age 68 of Red Level, died Wed., Nov. 14, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Mitchell were held Fri., Nov. 16, 2012, at 2 p.m. from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Fairmount Cemetery in Red Level.

Survivors include his son, Bobby DeWayne Mitchell of Montgomery, and two daughters, Judy Rebecca Mitchell of Red Level and Pamela Jean Garrett of Pascagoula, Miss; five grandchildren, Lacon Mitchell, Amanda Mitchell, Justin Garrett, Hannah Colvin and Kaitlyn Mitchell; his sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Billy Joe Baker of Red Level, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Bobby Mitchell, James Scruggs, Billy Joe Baker, Bobby Baker, David Baker and Darrell Baker.

 

Thelma Payne Riffe

Thelma Payne Riffe, age 86, of Andalusia died Wed., Nov. 14, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sun., Nov. 18, 2012, at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home with ministers Buford Smith and Dwight Underwood officiating. Interment will follow at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Her husband, Sheridan Riffe Jr., son, Ronald Riffe, and son-in-law, David Signs, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Riffe is survived by four daughters, Patricia Lucal of Andalusia, Rita Chaffee of North Fairfield, Ohio, Amelia Signs and Bridget Signs of Andalusia; a daughter-in-law, Jackye Riffe of Norwalk, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Catherine Martin of Princeton, W.Va.

Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Sunday at Foreman’s.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Comfort Care Hospice.
