District Attorney Walt Merrell Wednesday said the worthless check unit already has received one bad check written by Martin Bruce Harbison Jr., and urged anyone else who has received a bad check from Harbison to turn it over as soon as possible.
Harb-ison, 47, who was living in Anda-lusia, has been charged in Jefferson County in connection to the use of a false identity to steal $100,000.
Law enforcement officers said earlier this week that Harbison has an extensive criminal history including 28 bad check arrests, several arrests for identity theft and possession of forged instruments.
“The sooner we receive any bad checks, the more likely we are to be able to help merchants recoup their money,” Merrell said.
A Jefferson County deputy said the investigation into Harbison’s case began six to eight months ago.
